The Seventh Day Adventist Church wanted to develop this particular site for a new church. The property sits next to Buffalo Creek, and had a base flood elevation set by the FEMA Firm Map. We were challenged to grade the site and retain all the runoff in a detention pond before letting it go into the creek, without increasing the flow rate and causing additional erosion.
The city also required that we add a sidewalk along the adjoining streets, for pedestrian access. The sidewalk at the intersection would have caused drainage problems for the street, so we had to install an inlet and drainage pipe that took the drainage directly to the creek.
