Venus ISD was having some slight flooding problems in the area between their tennis courts and football field. The area was also an unimproved piece of land that the students had to cross to get to the gym building. We were asked to improve the area with an asphalt pavement section, and to check the storm sewer in the area. After a site investigation and the survey data came back, we worked up a drainage study to evaluate the flow directions and amounts. We graded the area to bring to bring as much flow into the existing inlet, but had to install a second inlet which we were able to tie into the first.
The area is now a smooth asphalt walkway with clear delineations for the drainage, and should keep students and football fans from wetting their feet more than necessary.
